Audiences in BBC:
The BBC have researched about their audience and what they are interested in the most. In their research, they say the majority of their audience would miss the BBC if it was not present, showing that most of the audience like what the BBC is broadcasting.
Another question that the BBC had asked to their audience what should BBC focus on. The audience had said to the BBC they should be focusing on Surveillance (news, weather and education) and Escapism/ Diversion (on genre of drama and comedy). Also the audience say the BBC are strong in the genres of documentaries, factual programming and drama. Lastly they say that BBC place more emphasis on UK originated comedy and drama; making them than other broadcasters.
Audience in ITV:
ITV claim that 490 of 500 the top commercial programs of 2017 were on ITV. Showing that ITV have a large range of target audience, if they were able to get most of the top commercial programs of 2017.
ITV provide many different genres. As the most popular shows are: 'Liar' was the most watched new drama series, while the most watched drama series (averaging to 10.7m) was 'Broadchurch', the most watched entertainment show was: 'I'm a Celebrity get me out of Here!', the most watched documentary (5.8m on 24th July) was 'Diana Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy' and lastly the most watched soap averaging to 7.6m was Coronation Street.
They also say that ITV, in a average week, will get: 73% ABC1, 70 %, ABC1 Men, 57% 16-34's, 66% 16-34 Women and 81% Housewives.
